Reflections is a Woman Set Free sponsored Christian book club within the walls of the jails and prisons we serve. We launched Reflections in May of 2011.
An inmate who enjoys reading is invited to be a part of this exciting book club. When she agrees to attend Reflections she is loaned a book to read. She also receives a folder that she may keep. She is given reading assignments and memory verses to learn, as well as, encouraged to bring back discussion questions to share with the class. Being a diligent student earns her rewards each time Reflections meets. Additionally, if she has met certain requirement upon completion of the assigned book she is awarded a certificate and other treasured gifts.
Woman Set Free always adheres to its mission statement of “Teaching God’s Word and sharing Christ’s love with women who have experienced life behind prison bars.” Therefore, each Reflections meeting begins with a short devotional from Proverbs allowing the wisdom of this book in the Bible to penetrate into the hearts of those who attend. All Scripture memory assignments come from the book of Proverbs helping the inmate to hide God’s Word in her heart.
The Reflections leaders and those we serve have enjoyed reading books written by gifted authors such as Max Lucado, Liz Curtis Higgs, Alice Matthews, and Kay Arthur. We look forward to others authors in the future.
There is no doubt that through the ministry of Woman Set Free and Reflections lives are being changed forever.
